Southampton university air squadron is a close family of students who meet weekly at our town headquarters, located on the waterfront in Southampton. The social aspect of the squadron is very important, it allows all members, staff and students apart, to make bonds in a more relaxed environment and become better acquainted. This increases the squadron’s ability to function.

Our social calendar does not just revolve around our weekly town nights; we have various large formal events throughout the year. Last year we organised a Christmas Draw, Leavers Ball and the Annual Dinner. The squadron also, in association with the SURNU and Southampton OTC, took the lead in organising the first annual Tri-Service charity ball, which raised nearly £1,000 for our charity.

In addition to the more traditional social scene the squadron regularly partakes in less ordinary social activities such as paintball, go-karting and bowling. These are often undertaken when the squadron deploys during the summer on our training periods, which can be very intense. The social activities allow us to relax outside of the rigours of military training.

The squadron has a wonderful social atmosphere which we warmly allow friends, relatives and members of the public to experience through our yearly parties and social activities.
